Abstract: Database scalability is a nontrivial problem for all services deriving business from the Internet traffic. While it is relatively easy to load-balance web traffic using hardware and software methods, it is much less trivial to design and build a database serving large loads of concurrent requests, with peak loads dynamically fluctuating in time. GridwiseTech specializes in scalability of transactional systems. In this presentation we will introduce a methodic approach to building scalable databases, including techniques such as: optimization, hardware extensions, caching, sharding, in-memory databases, and more.
