Topic of Presentation: How to maintain big linux clusters

Maxim Shaposhnikov I was born in Russia / Norilsk city (most northern city in the world in fact – it is normal to see -50C at winter ), finished college with deep mathematics / cybernetics studying in 1995, and Obninsk Nuclear Power Engineering Institute (cybernetic faculty) as the higher education in 2001.

I’m 31 years old, and working in one of the most interesting moderns ‘industries’ – extremely highly loaded internet projects.

I’ve made all the technical side of many big and very big projects, mostly social and dating networks like a Mamba (the biggest Russian dating project with tens of millions users) and Badoo (the social network which is oriented to the non-English speaking world) - thousands of servers (mostly unix systems), highly complicated software and hardware technologies, clusters, traffic distribution, storage systems, CDN’s, WAN and LAN acceleration and so on.

Currently i’m working on a few shiny new internet projects like a “Ayyo” (Itunes-like service for the whole Russia) and “AION” (which is extremely popular online game / virtual world in the Asia).

Abstract: During the talk Maxim will explain how to maintain big linux clusters from the management and installation point of view – for example “how to run 100 servers in just one hour from the moment of rack mounting” (linux automated installation like a SuSE Enterprise Server autoyast technology).
