Tomasz Kozar – System Engineer at Cisco Systems Service Providers Team. He is responsible for the bigest wireline Service Providers accounts in Poland. He has been working with networks since 1997. He has an extensive experience in the architecture and implementation of large-scale ISP networks, optical technologies, IP/MPLS and Management Systems. As a part of his specialization he is a member of the Core&Edge and Network Management Virtual Teams at Cisco Systems. He was involved in the first IOS XR 12k implementation in Poland and the CRS-1 system in the core. He was engaged in the first 40Gbps field tests in Poland based on the IPoDWDM technology. Previously for over 10 years he worked in NCR Poland as a Senior Consultant for the Service Providers Team. Engaged in network projects in Netia, Exatel, Dialog, Polkomtel, NASK. He achieved the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).
Abstract: The transport of IP services based on routers with integrated DWDM technology to interconnect directly to the DWDM fiber layer, also referred to as IP-over-DWDM (IPoDWDM), is increasingly becoming an significant innovation in the converged transport network evolution, allowing carriers to cope better with the ever shrinking revenue-per-bit as they scale their network bandwidth. Session will cover practical aspects of 10G and 40G link designing and implementation and discuss in more details the field test results, and the associated network (CapEx/OpEx) efficiencies and scalability for transport of IP traffic.
