Arnold Nipper is one of the founders of DE-CIX and is responsible for DE-CIX‘s engineering & operations. He is also a board member at Euro-IX, the European Internet Exchange Association. Prior to joining DE-CIX, Mr. Nipper was the CTO of Xlink in Karlsruhe.He has almost 20 years experience working in the professional Internet environment. In 1989 he managed to establish the first IP connection for the University of Karlsruhe and he took the lead on developing the national IP network for WIN-IP (the German Research Network). Arnold is one of the founders of RIPE and was involved in the development of the .de domain name registry.
He holds a Master’s degree (Diplom) in Mathematics from Mannheim University.
Abstract: Internet Exchange Points (IXP) have become more and more important in nowaday’s internet. Hence having resilient and scalable IXP is crucial. This prentation shows how DE-CIX, one of the largest IXP in the world, did cope with this challenge.
